Unreal.fr : Hello skAven, please tell us a bit about yourself ?
skAven : Hey, my name is Samuel Troussieux, I’m 15 and I live close to Marseille, France.
Unreal.fr : Congratulations for your victory in the Eurocup XVI 1on1 final ! How did the game go?
skAven : Tanks ! First map was Rankin (my map), i started very very bad, with him getting a spree lasting about 10 mins. This is when I started to realise that I had to do something to get back in the game, I grabbed a belt and that’s when I began to frag again and again to take back the lead and win 9-6.
Then we played his map (Ironic). As opposed to Rankin, I drew the first blood but it didn’t go as planned, scores were tied until the last 5 minutes, where primus was perfectly timing the belt. I cracked under the pressure, hence his serie of frags and the 11 points difference.
3rd map, Roughinery
During the first 5 minutes noone had the upper hand, until i took control. The map ended 20 to 5 to me.
Unreal.fr : Well done ;) What made the difference in your opinion ?
skAven : I guess it was a matter of experience, primus is kinda “new” to this scene since it was his 1st Eurocup, whereas it was my 3rd.
Unreal.fr : Now that this EC is over, how do you look back at this competition ?
skAven : I was very disappointed by the lack of motivation of players like ynZ (not directed at him because there were others like him, but he’s the first to come to my mind because he was the first leaving the cup), so it was only during the playoffs that i could feel motivation among the players. It is also when I really enjoyed taking part in this competition!
Unreal.fr : The release of Unreal Tournament 3 was probably the cause of this lack of motivation, do you plan on going to UT3 aswell in the future ?
skAven : Yeah, it’s the main reason. If i’m going to play it? Of course! In a few days I will get my new gfx, and then I can finally play it :]]]]]]]]
Unreal.fr : What are your first impressions about this game ?
skAven : I tested it a bit at some friends’, the game felt really nice eventhough the shieldgun wasn’t there anymore (but.. is that really a bad thing..?). About the grafics, the game looks perfect, but i might play in “picmic” so it doesn’t really matter, does it? One thing is certain though, this game pleased a lot of people, and it’s not going to stop now !
Unreal.fr : Do you have any idea in which team you are going to play next ? Some players already entered international powerhouses, is that a possible situation for you?
skAven : At the moment I play with k1ck, but chances are I am going to play somewhere else in the near future. I will probably play in x`mix with ricot, DJP, Ell4sh and ctan, if everyone is motivated :)
If that doesn’t happen, i will probably look for some bigger structure .. anyway, let’s wait & see !
Unreal.fr : Good luck anyway for the future, and thank you for your time ! Do you have anything to add?
skAven : Since this is the end of UT2k4, I want to thank all those that helped me throughout the years : Madjar for all his support in term of skill and mentally, GoHLinK, ecko, ceLL et ziLL for all the 1on1 we had. Also thanks to my teammates in x`mix and to all the zilent team and to all those whom I have forgotten. Then thanks to the international players like ScrMz, Frantic, Lovey and wreath, to my teammates in k1ck for all the games we played together. And above all, thanks to ricot for being the best mate I have ever had, and for the hundred of millions of 1on1 we played <3, and and to all those whom I have forgotten
Unreal.fr : Congratulations for this great cup!
skAven : Thanks again :D
